Hi people! Don here again. Most of you know me as a Hewlett-Packard fan. I have used their printers and computers since I can recall and loved them. I have always been hard-pressed to tear them up. They are like little tanks, and I am fairly hard on them in my profession. And now that we are work, school, and worship on-line, it is truly rough on it.
That being said, I am excited about this newest refinement of one of the newest additions of the HP line-up.
The HP Spectre x360 from HP was already a great computer, with the best qualities of both laptops and tablets, thanks to its cutting-edge design and features. Now it’s back again in 2020, bringing some great upgrades with it. It seems a dream to use, and though we’re waiting to get our hands on the top-of-the-line model to review, needless to say, from what we have seen, we’re impressed.
The updated edition of the HP Spectre x360 has new bonuses over older models, firstly a brand-new processor. Intel’s Core i7-1065G7 is an absolute powerhouse, its quad-core design is easily capable of handling the higher end of the notebook work spectrum. The new Iris Plus integrated graphics are baked into the processor, meaning that this super-slim convertible can hold its own against bulkier laptops with discrete graphics cards.

Also along for the ride in this new-and-improved model is double the RAM, a 1TB hard drive with Intel Optane technology, and the absolutely gorgeous 4K touch display that was available on the top-of-the-range HP Spectre x360 (2019) model. It still looks stunning.
This isn’t a lightweight laptop for everyday office work. It’s something more, something new. It’s also hard not to be dazzled by the HP Spectre x360 (2020)’s sleek design.
Packing that powerful hardware into such a small chassis does have its drawbacks, of course. The HP Spectre x360 runs a bit hot, particularly if you’re using it for demanding tasks.
This is no gaming machine either; the lack of a proper graphics card means that the latest big games will be beyond your reach. However, the Iris Plus graphics can handle more than you might expect at lower resolutions.
Overall, the pricing is what you’d expect for a premium 2-in-1 laptop. It leans towards the higher side, but you get what you pay for here; the HP Spectre x360’s superior design and performance are worth the higher price. It’s also worth noting that the HP Spectre x360 (2020) does come with HP’s Tilt Pen, a decent smart stylus.

“WINDOWS 10 HOME 64 BIT(PRE-INSTALLED BY HP) Unmatched Performance, 16GB SDRAM(ONBAORD), Bang & Olufsen Quad Speakers, HP Audio Boost, Fingerprint Reader”
Straight out of the box, it’s clear that the HP Spectre x360 (2020) is a high-quality piece of hardware. The brushed metal finish means the whole laptop feels strong, and the same build quality extends to the namesake 360-degree hinge that lets it swap between laptop and tablet modes.

Naturally, weight is a factor here. Despite its sturdy chassis, the unit is as lightweight as they come. It’s easy to hold in one hand, and the near bezel-less screen means that the overall size is only slightly larger than the actual display itself.
It’s quite thin, too- perhaps not the absolute thinnest and lightest laptop available, but it’s up there with the other major contenders. The super-thin design does mean that there’s limited room inside the case.
The HP Spectre x360 (2020)’s cooling is handled by two small fans that sit on the base of the laptop, and while they do run quietly, they’re not particularly powerful. The HP Spectre x360 (2020) can get quite hot during periods of extended use, never too hot, but perhaps a bit uncomfortable if it’s actually sitting on your lap.
The display is a bright AMOLED panel. Blacks are black, while bright colors pop with vibrance and brightness even in well-lit spaces.
There is a laptop feature, the Windows Hello function. Using an IR camera array connected to its webcam, you can log in using your face, even in dimly lit conditions.
There is a camera kill switch, a physical switch on the side of the it that manually cuts power to the webcam for added security. There’s also a fingerprint scanner just below, letting you login if you don’t want to use Windows Hello.
The battery does charge quite fast thanks to the USB-C connector, charging from empty to 100% in barely more than an hour, and the angled USB-C port keeps the power cable out of your way.
The HP Spectre x360 is top-of-the-line, but it has a price tag to match. If you’re trying to stay on a strict budget, it’s better to go for something less, like a new Chromebook.
