I guess I’ve tried to be a people pleaser most of my life.
For a good part of my life, I worked with sports cars. I loved to drive them. When a customer bought one, they loved them, too.
I entered the real estate industry in the eighties, but by then, it had become almost adversarial. If an agent listed a seller’s house, and took too long to sell it, they didn’t earn their money. If they sold it too quickly, they didn’t earn their money. It was hard for an agent to be a winner, easy to be the jerk instead of a hero. People were starting to think more seriously about doing it themselves.
Actually, the only thing they couldn’t do for themselves was to put their houses in the MLS. Please see what a FSBO is.
So I changed my company’s practice to that of putting for-sale-by-owner houses in the MLS for them. Working on-line was a way of life, and not just a side gig for me.
Bingo! People saved thousands and thousands of dollars, and I was the hero every time. But even today, my job is educational. Some people are apprehensive in the beginning, and I help people get the ability to make this thing happen.
I’ve even written some books and some articles on the subject. I offer a 5-module email micro-course for peeps who are afraid they don’t have the time to sell their own house. There is a FREE BOOK ON HOUSE-FLIPPING HERE, too.
